Ras Al Kahimah was a bust but Abu Dhabi always delivers

So the hubby's cousin is visiting and we thought we should try to go to one of the Emirates that we had not been to yet, Ras Al Khaimah. I hate to say it but I was not impressed with this Emirate at all. Not only was our map wrong about the location of the place where we wanted to go, Al Hamra Fort, but once we finally got to the place there was only one restaurant open. The place was seedy and people were smoking inside so not a very appetizing experience. We though about heading back into Ras Al Kahimah proper, but after being given so many bad directions and driving around in circles (literally), we decided that heading back to Dubai was the best course of action. The only memorable thing about the trip there was this cool building on Emirates road.

The next day we made our way to Abu Dhabi to take our guest to the grand mosque, which is always a must for new visitors. As always that place and Emirates Palace are a good choice. Unfortunately eating at Emirates palace is quite expensive but the food selection in the surrounding area and nearby mall are lacking in any originality or quality so that was not so good.

What was very impressive was the Yas Hotel at Yas island, with a formula one racetrack going through the hotel. Probably not a very quiet place to stay during races but it was very peaceful this time since no races are happening at the time. Here are a few pictures I took there.
