So my husband said something that made me stop to think about the mindset I've had about living in the UAE. We have been very homesick lately due to a lot of factors. The topmost reason is that we are far from our family and friends. This is exacerbated by the fact that the attitude of the locals is a real put off for us as most of our experience so far has been to witness how despondent they really are in pretty much every sense. This however is not as bad as the level of utter incompetence that is experienced here pretty much every time you have to deal with anyone in costumer service.
Not a really pleasant way to see it, but facts are facts. The thing is that we have gotten caught in the negativity that dealing with this type of situation can create and are missing out on experiences that can enrich our lives.
This month we are going to try to see a little more of the UAE thanks in part to the visit my parents are making. This gives us a chance to look into where we can go other than the usual places here in Dubai or to Abu Dhabi like we do any time anyone has been here to see us for a short period of time.
I hope that we can get ourselves out of this rut and really get something out of being where we are.
