Day one as an expatriate

Well we have arrived in Dubai. It is definitely an impressive city on scale alone. The hubby, munchkin and I arrived at 8:30 am local time and have been treated incredibly by our hosts.

My husband and I have been very happy that our travels abroad have happened after the election of Mr. Obama as president. It is nice to be able to say that you are an American without feeling ashamed of your president. I know that Obama does not take the helm until January 20, 2009 but outside the US it already feels like he is already at work. People that we have met and talked to have all been so positive that it has left me with a warm feeling of reasurance.

It sucks to be far from home and all the people you know and love, but it is good to know that we have done so at a time when the world seems to be rooting for the US instead of feeling hostile toward it.

That is all I will say because I am jet lagged and will not be able to be coherent beyond this point.
