So we have finished month number two of the experiment on how to be frugal in Dubai. I am so excited because we are actually seeing a big difference already. We have been able to...... (gasp) actually save some money. Imagine that. It feels like a breath of fresh air, but there is still work to be done and debt to be payed. Must stay focused.
We have continued to take taxis, buses and the metro to get around and even though at times it has not been ideal, it is a bit more relaxing (have I mentioned the crazy way people drive around here enough?).
We had another cheap outing yesterday courtesy of the free carousel in our neighborhood. We told the munchkin that if she ate all her broccoli we would take her to ride on the horsies and then we would go and get ice cream. She could not eat it fast enough, so we got ourselves together quickly after dinner and headed over to ride on the carousel (for free) and then walked over to a newly open Baskin Robins (located away from the mall and all its craziness). The three of us had our yummy ice cream and it only cost $10 USD. Happy kid, happy parents. A great time was had by all.
So far I would say this experiment is succeeding. Hope we can keep up the momentum.
